Base pay range: $20.00/hr - $27.30/hr
Full-Time: 184 days / 6.5 hrs/day
Duties
Assists in the instruction of students with disabilities in mainstream, resource room or center-based settings. While duties vary with the age or level of disability, they may include:
Managing behavior (redirecting, calming or removing a disruptive student from the classroom)
Monitoring and recording student progress in instructional areas (academics, daily living skills, dressing, grooming, social skills, etc.)
Managing physical needs (toileting, feeding, dressing, lifting, positioning, transporting students in wheelchairs, etc.)
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
Personal Care Assistant certification required to be completed within 30 days of start date
Candidates must have completed 60 semester/90 quarter credits or obtained an associate degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited institution, or have passed the ParaEducator exam or ParaPro exam (documentation required)
Good communication, interpersonal and recordkeeping skills
Ability to work with technology and computers
Ability to work cooperatively with students and staff
Ability to supervise students
Ability to take direction
Ability to maintain regular attendance, including completing an assigned day
Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds
Physical Requirements Ability to perform position responsibilities, including physical factors, to perform toileting, feeding, self-care procedures, implementing behavioral management program; maintain student data; work with students who may display aggressive behavior. Must be physically working in the building.
Rate of Pay
$20.00/hour to $25.30/hour for DOQ with K-12 experience
$21.15/hour to $26.45/hour with AA/AAS degree or 60 semester/90 quarter credits, DOQ with K-12 experience
$22.00/hour to $27.30/hour with BA degree from a regionally accredited institution, DOQ with K-12 experience
Special Ed Paras serving Center-based students and classrooms 50% or more of time receive additional $0.50 per hour
Special Ed Paras at Two Rivers Transition Program or River Trail Learning Center receive additional $1.00 per hour
Benefits Insurance benefits available for assigned positions of 6 hours or more per day
