Job Summary & Responsibilities Schedule: Monday‑Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
The Instrumentation & Electrical Technician is responsible for troubleshooting and identifying root‑cause issues, repairing or replacing parts, rewiring and installing instrument‑electrical goods at the bioprocessing facility. The role ensures compliance with electrical codes, selects and maintains electrical procedures, assists in developing pertinent electrical programs, and trains team members. The facility operates 24/7; the technician must meet call‑in requirements as needed.
Diagnose and repair or replace parts, rewire and install related instrument/electrical goods, including conduit and wiring.
Follow all local electrical codes for 4160 V, 480 V, 220 V, 110 V, 24 V DC, and 4‑20 mA loops and circuits.
Troubleshoot PLC/DCS I/O, including 4‑20 mA loops and 120 V/24 DC I/O.
Perform preventative and proactive electrical maintenance and compliance procedures.
Assist with emergency and scheduled shutdowns while performing regular mechanical duties.
Calibrate, configure, and repair measurement/control instruments for flow, level, pressure, temperature, and pH, including associated valves and valve actuators.
Understand electrical and instrumentation equipment associated with plant processing equipment.
Maintain expertise in motor control circuits and electric motors.
Inform management of needed instrument/electrical parts and maintain component inventories.
Document procedures and inventory records, including calibration and parts ordering.
Ensure daily operations meet operational standards.
Maintain a clean work area and accountability of tools and supplies.
Handle additional tasks, work orders, and cleaning assignments as directed.
Develop, train, and review instrument/electrical programs and procedures, including Arc Flash Hazards and electrical integrity.
Maintain licensing by attending required state code classes.
Respond to after‑hours, weekend, and holiday emergency calls involving electronic or instrument/electrical expertise.
Promote a culture of safe behavior and environmental compliance.
Champion POET in the community and maintain a team environment.
Strengths of a Successful Candidate
Associate’s degree in an electrical training program or equivalent (required).
Journeyman or Master License preferred; required by location.
Thorough knowledge of standard electrical equipment and work practices.
Ability to troubleshoot, maintain, and install high‑voltage equipment and protection relays, PLCs, transformers, motor control centers, panels, and miscellaneous electrical equipment.
Excellent organizational, time‑management, and communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and willingness to learn new programs.
Preferable Experience
Read and interpret PLC code, schematic wiring, ladder logic, and P&ID process diagrams.
Industrial network experience.
Minimum of 1‑3 years related work experience.
Experience with 3‑phase electrical systems up to 4160 V 3‑phase.
Work Environment

Exposure to plant, laboratory, and office environments.
Typical physical requirements include lifting up to 60 pounds, climbing stairs and ladders, manipulating valves, bending and twisting while lifting less than 50 pounds, extended seated data entry, daily walking up to 2 miles, and working in confined spaces from –20 °C to +100 °C.
Use of personal protective equipment and hand/ power tools.
Passing of a pre‑employment drug screen and ongoing random testing.
