Job Description
Adjunct Faculty – GED at Colorado Mountain College are expected to facilitate student learning by utilizing faculty resources, materials, facilities, and educational technologies. Faculty should be dedicated to creating positive classroom experiences and providing excellent student support. Teaching is the primary role, but faculty are also encouraged to engage in scholarly endeavors and service activities.
Qualifications
Credentialed to teach in the specific program or eligible to be credentialed.
A minimum of a master’s degree in the relevant field or a master’s degree with at least 18 graduate credits in a related discipline (e.g., business, finance, management, marketing).
Minimum of one‑year full‑time teaching experience, or equivalent experience as an adjunct instructor; higher‑education teaching experience preferred.
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the duties of the position.
Knowledge of pedagogy and at least two years of teaching experience. Strong background in computers and technology, excellent organizational and general office skills (filing, typing, answering phones), customer‑oriented and detail‑focused, with effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Willingness to learn, research, and analyze data independently while meeting established goals and deadlines.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) or conversational language abilities preferred.
Resident of Colorado and able to perform all duties within the state.
Not eligible for visa sponsorship; applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
Teaching Responsibilities
Teach classes as assigned by the designated supervisor.
Prepare appropriate lesson plans for each course in accordance with approved course objectives.
Develop and submit course outlines and syllabi to the appropriate supervisor.
Assist with the development of measurable course objectives and plans.
Establish a professional relationship with students and staff that encourages open communication.
Maintain accurate course records of students and complete required course forms.
Be available for student consultation.
Assist in the recruitment of students, as appropriate.
Assist in the evaluation of curriculum and instructional performance when agreed upon.
Represent the college in a professional manner throughout the community and college district, promoting a positive public image.
Engage in professional development required for credentialing.
Administrative & Service Expectations
Participate in advising, orientation, and registration activities.
Contribute to campus and college committees, relevant projects, mentoring peers, and assessment or program review activities.
Support student organizations, recruiting, and retention efforts.
Maintain compliance with college policies and standards for grading, office hours, and learning outcomes.
Reporting & Working Conditions This position reports to the Assistant Dean of Instruction or designee. The role may require travel and evening or weekend hours. Tasks include constant sitting, occasional walking, standing, and driving; handling objects up to 50 lbs; frequent written and oral communication; and extensive computer use.
Background & Safety Successful completion of a background check and, when applicable, a motor vehicle records report is required. All duties are performed in accordance with Colorado Mountain College safety and compliance policies.
