Position Summary The Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML) at Colorado State University (CSU) is seeking to hire employees for various Administrative Professional positions. These positions are available in multiple locations based on project needs. While most roles are based at military installations across the United States, some opportunities are located on‑site at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. Select positions may also offer hybrid or fully remote work options. During the application process, you’ll be asked to indicate which U.S. state(s) you’re interested in working in via a supplemental question. Positions are contingent upon funding.

Key Focus Areas

Biological Sciences: Biology, Botany, Zoology, Ecology, Fisheries, Wildlife

Cultural and Historical Resources: Cultural Resource Management (Archaeology, Anthropology, History, Architectural History, Public History, Historic Preservation, Museum Studies, Osteology, Geoarchaeology)

Environmental Planning and Compliance: NEPA analysis, Real Property Specialists, Community Planning, Watershed Management, NHPA, NHPA Section 106, Management Plans development, Biosecurity Support

Data/Database Management: Data Analysis, Scripting/Programming

Geospatial: Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Remote Sensing (LiDAR, multispectral)

Land Assessment: Range and Training Land Assessment (RTLA), Geologist, Vegetation Mapping Specialist

Natural Resources Technicians and Specialists

Operations: Fire Management, Heavy Equipment Operation

Program and Project Oversight: Project Management, Technical Support for Field Operations, Report Editor/Writer

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent (some positions may require a degree).

Education or experience in the field of interest.

Effective communication skills, including ability to maintain working relationships.

Ability to work independently and effectively in a team.

Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. by proposed start date; CEMML cannot provide visa sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

A degree, certification, and/or license in the field of interest.

Professional experience in the field of interest.

For some positions, the successful candidate must:

Be able to comply with all applicable regulations to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) and/or complete a NACI/SF85 and/or successfully pass a federal background check.

Have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain one by the employment start date.

Have the willingness and ability to walk and/or hike long distances and work outdoors in adverse weather on rugged terrain.

Be able to lift 50 pounds repeatedly without assistance.
