Position Overview We are seeking a skilled and detail‑oriented
Designer
to join our
Engineer / Preconstruction Department
within a leading framing contractor organization. This onsite role is responsible for producing accurate and efficient structural designs for wall panels, roof trusses, and framing layouts that support successful project execution from concept through completion.
The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience with wall panel and truss design, proficiency with MiTek software, and thrives in a collaborative, fast‑paced construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
Develop detailed structural designs and layouts for wall panels, roof trusses, and related framing systems.
Utilize MiTek and other design software to generate shop drawings, layouts, and engineering calculations.
Collaborate closely with project managers, estimators, and field teams to ensure constructability, efficiency, and design accuracy.
Review architectural and structural drawings to identify discrepancies, conflicts, and value‑engineering opportunities.
Support preconstruction efforts by offering design insights that enhance cost control, safety, and buildability.
Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, project specifications, and engineering standards.
Qualifications
2–5 years of experience in wall panel and truss design (required).
Proficiency in MiTek software (required).
Strong understanding of wood framing systems and construction methods.
Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings.
Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and problem‑solving skills.
Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Engineering or construction‑related degree or certification preferred, but not required.
Role Details
Work Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM (1‑hour lunch).
Work Environment:
100% onsite.
Travel:
Minimal, occasional travel may be required.
Employment Type:
Direct Hire.
Reports To:
Engineer / Preconstruction Department Manager.
Experience Level:
2–5 years.
Background Check:
Required.
