Pay Rate: $43,000 to $46,000
Schedule: Monday - Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm
Embark Behavioral Health is hiring a Substance Abuse Counselor
to support adolescents ages 12–17 in their recovery journey. Every day, you'll connect with teens who are working through substance use and emotional challenges. You’ll guide them through individual and group therapy sessions, helping them build trust, learn coping skills, and make healthier decisions. You’ll collaborate with a team of professionals to create a safe, structured environment where each adolescent can grow, heal, and move forward. Whether you're supporting a breakthrough moment or helping a youth navigate a tough day, your presence will make a lasting impact.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each adolescent’s needs
Facilitate one-on-one counseling sessions focused on substance use, emotional regulation, and life skills
Lead engaging group therapy sessions on recovery, relapse prevention, and healthy decision-making
Engage families in the treatment process through education, therapy, and ongoing support
Provide crisis intervention and behavior management aligned with program policies
Collaborate with residential staff, case managers, and medical professionals to ensure holistic care; participating in staff meetings, clinical consultations, and ongoing professional training.
Maintain accurate clinical documentation in compliance with state, federal, and licensing standards
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
State licensure or certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor (MAADC I, MAADC II, CADC, CRADC).
1–2 years of experience in behavioral health or substance use treatment settings.
Knowledge of adolescent development, trauma-informed care, and evidence-based treatment models.
Strong skills in motivational interviewing, conflict resolution, and group facilitation.
Ability to maintain boundaries, model healthy behavior, and build rapport with at-risk youth.
Must be 21 years of age or older.
