Job title and brief description:
The Inspector is responsible for reviewing precision machined components and assemblies to make sure they are manufacturing to blueprint specifications. This person will use a variety of measuring instruments to compare products physical specifications to blueprint specifications, run various quality tests, and identify products manufactured outside of specified tolerances.
Qualifications: High School Diploma or G.E.D. required with a working knowledge of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry 3-years minimum inspection experience or at least 5-years' experience in precision machining Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Requires minimum supervision, except in areas of a unique aspect. Must have excellent mechanical abilities. Knowledge and understanding of G. D. & T. Able to read and understand complex blueprints and bill of materials. Ability to use and read precision measuring devices. Experience with inspection computer software and ERP systems preferred. Primary tasks:
Inspect precision machined components and assemblies Ability to read mechanical drawings Use and understand both mechanical and electronic gauging & tools Experience working with tolerances less than .0002" on a regular basis Log and document test results and complete inspection reports Must have a good understanding of the fundamentals of industrial mechanics. Perform first piece and surface plate inspection.
