About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated ServiceNow Developer to join our team on a transformative enterprise project. You will play a critical role in the design, development, and implementation of a custom ServiceNow application, consolidating and replacing functionality from multiple legacy tools.
This is an opportunity to work on a modern, scalable platform using low-code/no-code capabilities alongside traditional development approaches-delivering impactful solutions for business process automation, system integration, and data transformation.
The output of this project team will include building efficient applications and workflows to reduce work duplication, simplify tools sprawl and generate better data to support the Department of Veteran Affairs.

Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and deploy a custom ServiceNow application to consolidate functionality from legacy systems and disparate tools. Build and configure custom modules, tables, workflows, forms, business rules, UI components, and notifications in alignment with ServiceNow development best practices. Create unique service portal pages and widgets to aid the business organization. Implement system integration strategies using REST/SOAP APIs, IntegrationHub, and MID Servers for both internal and external systems. Configure and manage security models, including users, roles, groups, and access control rules (ACLs). Support the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC)-from design and development to testing, deployment, and maintenance. Collaborate with stakeholders and business analysts to refine requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Contribute to and lead data migration planning and execution from legacy systems into ServiceNow. Conduct unit testing, support user acceptance testing (UAT), and troubleshoot issues in development and production environments. Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, design specs, and support guides. Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior developers and team members. Work in close collaboration with cross-functional teams including solution architects, product owners, and platform administrators. Required Qualifications
5+ years of hands-on experience in ServiceNow development, including custom application design and implementation. Proven experience replacing or consolidating legacy systems with ServiceNow solutions. Strong expertise in: ServiceNow scripting (JavaScript, Glide API)
Flow Designer, Workflow Editor, and Client/Server-side development
REST/SOAP APIs, IntegrationHub, and MID Server integrations
Deep understanding of ServiceNow architecture, platform capabilities, and limitations. Experience configuring and managing: Users, roles, groups, access control rules (ACLs) Data models, custom tables, and performance-optimized structures Ability to work independently and collaboratively in Agile or hybrid-Agile environments. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Experience with ServiceNow Platform Analytics and UI Builder. Preferred Qualifications
ServiceNow Certified Application Developer and/or Certified System Administrator Experience with ServiceNow Project Portfolio Management (PPM), IT Business Management (ITBM), ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) or Agile modules Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines in ServiceNow Background in workflow/process optimization projects Experience working with ServiceNow App Engine or scoped application development
