- Supervise, monitor, and evaluate day-to-day accounting activities
- Work with controllers and senior accountants to develop accounting procedures and internal controls, and implement new technologies
- Supervise and train senior and staff accountants
- Manage day-to-day accounting matters and monthly close of the corporate entities or/and self-storage properties
- Prepare and review monthly closing journal entries and reconciliations
- Record consolidation/elimination entries and prepare consolidated financial statements and analytics
- Assist in the recruitment of accounting and financial staff and conducts performance evaluations
- Coordinate training programs for new staff and identifies training needs for current staff
- Establish internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation
- Oversee the production of periodic financial reports; ensure that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards
- Responsible for tax planning throughout the fiscal year; files annual corporate tax return
- Audit accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations; coordinates with outside auditors and provides needed information for the annual external audit
Requirements:
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Able to communicate with professionals at all levels
- Able to communicate complex information to a variety of audiences
Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance Economics, or related field is required
- 5-7 years of accounting experience required
- Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and autonomously
