Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee analysis and reporting of monthly profit margins for grain trade divisions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in deliverables.
- Supervise and guide accounting team members, fostering professional growth and maintaining high-quality standards in their work.
- Develop tools and provide training to optimize month-end processes, including basis analysis and reporting workflows.
- Serve as a primary resource for grain accounting operations, ensuring users are proficient in system functionalities and processes.
- Collaborate closely with merchandising and operations teams to meet reporting requirements while building constructive partnerships.
- Evaluate current systems and recommend updates to refine financial reporting and profit analysis capabilities.
- Partner with joint venture teams to address accounting complexities, offering expertise in basis analysis and mark-to-market accounting methods.
- Mentor and manage team members, conducting performance appraisals, delegating tasks, and arranging training programs for skill enhancement.
- Work with Risk Management to assess and address accounting considerations arising from new markets and products.
- Lead special projects assigned by senior leadership, ensuring they are completed accurately and within designated timelines.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5-10 years of professional experience, with a focus on accounting for grain commodities.
- In-depth knowledge of basis calculations and margin analysis.
- Strong multitasking and organizational abilities to manage competing deadlines effectively.
- Proven ability to lead and influence teams with clear communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in advanced Excel functionalities and accounting software tools.
- Hands-on experience in month-end close procedures, ledger management, and reconciliations.
