Description Accounting Manager - Commodities Industry Location: Darien | Work Type: Hybrid | Employment Type: Full-Time Our client, a company in the commodities sector, is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee core accounting activities and ensure accurate financial reporting in a fast-paced environment. This is an opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys a mix of hands-on work, team leadership, and exposure to a complex, global business. Key Responsibilities

• Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Oversee the preparation of financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
• Partner with operations and trading teams to understand transaction flow and ensure proper accounting treatment for commodity purchases, sales, and inventory.
• Monitor and analyze financial performance, providing insights to management to support strategic decision-making.
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff, promoting accuracy, efficiency, and professional growth.
• Coordinate annual audits and liaise with external auditors.
• Support system improvements and process automation to streamline accounting operations.

Requirements

• 5-8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including management or supervisory responsibilities.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and experience with complex inventory or commodity accounting a plus.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, or Microsoft Dynamics).
