Description We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our team in San Diego, California. This is a long-term contract position with the possibility of transitioning into a permanent role. The ideal candidate will take ownership of critical accounting functions, including month-end close processes, financial statement preparation, budgeting, and reconciliation tasks. Preference for hands-on expertise with Great Plains accounting software and the ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with stakeholders. Responsibilities:
- Manage the month-end close process, ensuring all financial reports and documentation are accurate and timely.
- Develop and oversee budgets in collaboration with leadership and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Prepare and present detailed financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
- Perform account reconciliations, including bank, balance sheet, and intercompany accounts, to ensure accuracy.
- Create and post journal entries to maintain the integrity of general ledger records.
- Track and record elimination entries for intercompany transactions and allocate costs across departments as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and organizational policies while maintaining high accuracy in all processes.
- Utilize Great Plains accounting software to execute accounting tasks, troubleshoot issues, and optimize system functionality.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to analyze financial data and provide actionable insights to support decision-making.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a managerial or consulting capacity.
- Advanced proficiency with Great Plains accounting software is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of month-end close processes, financial reporting standards, and corporate budgeting.
- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to work independently and resolve complex financial issues.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with leadership and present financial information.
- Experience with multi-entity accounting and cost allocation processes.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt and potentially transition into a long-term role.
