As the Accounting Manager, you will play a vital role in overseeing the financial operations of the organization while directly contributing to its mission-driven work. This position requires both high-level leadership and a hands-on approach to ensure deadlines are met and financial processes run smoothly during a period of organizational change. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all daily accounting operations, including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), payroll, grant tracking, and overall compliance with nonprofit accounting standards.
- Manage, mentor, and inspire a diverse accounting team, fostering collaboration and growth.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, budgets, and reports.
- Proactively address challenges by "rolling up your sleeves" and working directly on urgent tasks as needed.
- Lead the team and organization through dynamic, fast-paced changes while maintaining a solution-oriented approach.
- Monitor and ensure proper compliance with deadlines related to audits, reporting, and grant requirements.
- Collaborate across departments to support organizational goals and provide key insights.
- Evaluate processes and implement improvements to drive efficiency and effectiveness.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Required).
- 4-5 years of accounting experience within a nonprofit or government organization.
- Proven experience managing and leading a team; ability to foster collaboration and create a culture of accountability.
- Exceptional ability to work in and adapt to a fast-paced environment, especially during times of organizational change.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead and support a diverse team while implementing best practices.
- A hands-on, can-do attitude; willingness to "roll up your sleeves" when work needs to get done.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to meet important deadlines consistently.
- Experience with nonprofit fund accounting, grants management, and compliance preferred.
