Description We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Secretary to join our team on a long-term contract basis. This role is based in Sacramento, California, and requires expertise in providing administrative and legal support to attorneys. The ideal candidate will bring strong skills in e-filing, calendar management, and document preparation to ensure seamless operations within the legal team. Responsibilities:
- Prepare, proofread, and format legal documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with court requirements.
- Handle electronic filing (e-filing) of legal documents with state and federal courts.
- Manage attorneys' calendars, including scheduling meetings, court dates, and deadlines.
- Coordinate and track court filings to ensure timely submissions.
- Transcribe dictations and prepare correspondence as needed.
- Maintain organized case files and manage document storage systems.
- Communicate effectively with clients, court personnel, and other legal professionals.
- Assist with the preparation of trial materials, exhibits, and other legal documentation.
- Monitor and prioritize incoming communications, including emails and phone calls.
- Perform general administrative tasks, such as processing invoices and managing office supplies. Requirements - Proven experience as a Legal Secretary or in a similar administrative role within a legal setting.
- Strong knowledge of e-filing procedures for state and federal courts.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in calendar management and scheduling for legal professionals.
- Familiarity with legal terminology and document preparation.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficient in using legal software and office tools such as Microsoft Office Suite.
