Position Summary
Hixson Metal Finishing is seeking a highly motivated and detail‑oriented individual to join our laboratory team as an Entry‑Level Chemist. As a crucial member of our laboratory team, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality and efficiency of our metal finishing processes.
Responsibilities
Chemical Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate records of chemical inventory levels.
- Monitor and prepare chemicals as needed to ensure uninterrupted production.
- Implement and adhere to safety protocols for handling and storing chemicals.
Chemical Analysis
- Conduct routine chemical analyses using various techniques, including coating weight, reagents, and titrations.
- Perform qualitative and quantitative analyses to assess the composition of metal finishing baths.
- Collaborate with the production team to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
Technical Data Documentation
- Record and interpret analytical data with precision and attention to detail.
Quality Control
- Implement quality control measures to maintain the highest standards in metal finishing processes.
- Identify and troubleshoot deviations from established parameters.
Instrumentation Operation
- Utilize laboratory instruments, such as spectrophotometers, colorimeters, pH and conductivity meters, to perform analyses.
- Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Required Skills
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Detail‑oriented with a commitment to maintaining high‑quality standards.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Skills
- Understanding of chemical principles and laboratory techniques.

Education / Experience Required
- Degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or related field (preferred) or related work experience.
