Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to join our team in New Orleans, Louisiana. This short-term contract to permanent position offers the opportunity to grow within a dynamic and supportive environment. In this role, you will contribute to essential accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger reconciliation. Responsibilities:
- Process vendor invoices and ensure proper matching with purchase orders or vouchers.
- Handle daily invoicing, credit processing, and cash receipt applications for accounts receivable.
- Assist with general accounting tasks such as month-end closing activities and account reconciliations.
- Review and correct transaction documents, ensuring accuracy and initiating follow-up actions when necessary.
- Assign appropriate expenditure and accounting codes to relevant documents.
- Prepare detailed financial statements and reports using information from multiple sources.
- Record and post financial transactions in journals, registers, and ledgers manually or electronically.
- Investigate and reconcile discrepancies, reconstructing actions to resolve issues and preparing corrections as needed.
- Monitor budgets and verify adjustments or transfers to support budgetary control.
- Participate in special projects and perform other related duties as assigned.
- Proficiency in data entry with a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks is highly desirable.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively while maintaining attention to detail.
- Familiarity with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
- Experience in invoice processing and reconciliation.
- Entry-level candidates will be considered, but prior experience is a plus.
