- Provide strategic direction for daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, month-end close, and internal reporting.
- Lead and mentor the in-office accounting team, fostering accountability and precision in financial tasks.
- Analyze gross profit margins and job cost data to support informed business decisions.
- Oversee progress billing processes to ensure contract compliance and optimize billing efficiency.
- Review and validate commission structures tied to job profitability.
- Develop, implement, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the accounting department.
- Manage lien processes, including tracking, notices, and waivers, to ensure compliance.
- Coordinate financial activities across multiple office locations to maintain consistency and accuracy.
- Monitor overhead and operational expenditures, identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with leadership on forecasting, budgeting, and enhancing financial processes.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction accounting, preferably within a subcontractor environment with high transaction volumes.
- Demonstrated ability to lead accounting teams and implement financial systems effectively.
- Hands-on experience with progress billing, job costing, lien laws, and financial scheduling.
- Advanced proficiency in construction accounting software such as Sage 300, Foundation, or Viewpoint, along with strong Excel skills.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication abilities.
- Experience working in multi-office or multi-entity construction environments is a plus.
