Job Description

  • Lead and manage the materials planning, purchasing, inventory control, and warehousing teams.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize material flow, reduce inventory costs, and mitigate supply chain risks.
  • Collaborate closely with production, engineering, quality, and finance to align material planning with production schedules and business objectives.
  • Analyze material requirements using ERP/MRP systems and ensure timely procurement of raw materials and components.
  • Identify, qualify, and manage supplier relationships to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and on-time delivery.
  • Monitor and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as inventory turns, purchase price variance, and supplier performance.
  • Establish and enforce inventory accuracy and cycle counting programs.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Materials Manager should have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in materials management or supply chain roles within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • 3+ years in a leadership or management capacity.
  • Strong understanding of ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Infor, etc.).
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing, Just-In-Time (JIT), and other efficiency methodologies is a plus.
  • APICS CPIM or CSCP certification is preferred.
