Overview
We are seeking candidates for tenured or tenure-track positions at all ranks, who work on themes of heart failure (systolic, diastolic, congenital), regenerative cardiovascular medicine including tissue engineering, and molecular imaging. Successful candidates are expected to have already established or have the potential to establish a nationally recognized, competitively funded research program including graduate/medical student mentoring. They will receive laboratory space in the new downtown campus of the Morsani College of Medicine. This position may be filled in one of several relevant departments at USF (Molecular Pharmacology & Physiology, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Biomedical Engineering, etc.).
Minimum Qualifications
Doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service.
Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor.
For Associate or Full Professor – have produced creative work, professional writing, or research in refereed and other professional journals, and be a recognized authority in the field of specialization.
MD, PhD, or MD/PhD with at least 1 National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant performing basic research in cardiovascular disease.
Preferred Qualifications
MD, PhD, or MD/PhD with more than 1 NIH grant performing basic research in cardiovascular disease.
Responsibilities
Teaching: Provide didactic and benchside teaching of medical students, graduate students, and post‑doctoral fellows, and provide college‑wide seminars.
Research: Perform basic and translational research related to heart disease, publish in major peer‑reviewed journals, and maintain NIH and other grants.
Administrative: Serve in governance, service, and community outreach tasks.
Other duties: As assigned by Chair.
