Senior Geotechnical Engineer

S&ME is looking for a motivated and passionate Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Service Line team in Duluth, Georgia. Are you ready to contribute your education and knowledge to meaningful projects? Join us at S&ME!

As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing projects from planning through delivery, fostering innovation while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and schedule adherence. Your advanced knowledge in geotechnical evaluation, design, and implementation will be essential in addressing complex engineering problems. In addition, you'll cultivate strong client partnerships to support both project outcomes and business growth. By guiding junior staff and coordinating each stage of the workflow, you'll help enhance efficiency, optimize practices, and elevate the overall performance of the team.

Your Day-to-Day

Geotechnical Proficiency: Utilize advanced engineering methods to evaluate foundation systems, slope stability, and settlement behavior, offering ground improvement solutions as needed.

Collaboration & Mentorship: Maintain consistent communication with clients and subcontractors to keep projects on track, provide guidance to junior engineers, and support S&ME's growth initiatives.

Documentation & Proposals: Develop thorough technical reports, craft detailed project proposals, and engage in marketing and client development activities.

Team Leadership: Set the standard by promoting organizational policies and practices, with a strong focus on safety, risk control, project execution, and quality assurance.

What You Bring

A Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, Mining, or a related engineering field

A minimum of 10 years of project management experience in the A / E / C industry

A Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain one

A strong proficiency in computer skills, including at least Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and AutoCAD

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as:

Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions

Walking over rough, uneven terrain and standing for potentially up to 12 hours a day

Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50 lbs, (field / laboratory samples and equipment)

Maneuvering field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground around active construction sites
