Senior Field Service Engineer – Phoenix, AZ
We are looking for a Field Service Engineer for our Electrification Automation (EA) Business Unit headquartered in Wendell, NC. This position will be based in Phoenix, AZ. The EA Business Unit has a diverse portfolio of products including photovoltaic inverters, medium-voltage power distribution equipment, packaging and services, and automation solutions. Responsibilities
Installation, testing, commissioning, and start-up of LV and MV equipment. May also include troubleshooting, maintenance, training, and consulting. Develop test plans for complex relay systems and troubleshoot those systems. Experience with relays from multiple manufacturers (e.g., SEL, Siemens SIPROTEC, GE Multilin) is a plus. Develop switching procedures and Methods of Procedure (MOPs) and advise on electrical safety matters related to scheduled and unscheduled work. Travel up to 80% (national, depending on site locations); this is a hands-on field position with flexible location depending on travel requirements. Support Greenfield & Brownfield unit installations and commissioning activities throughout Siemens/USA. Qualifications
Basic Qualifications: High School or GED minimum 10+ years of experience with power distribution systems and low and medium voltage switchgear, including protection and automation commissioning and troubleshooting with relays (e.g., SEL, Siemens SIPROTEC, GE Multilin) 10+ years of experience in troubleshooting and repair of electrical control circuits, including breakers or high voltage equipment testing and condition assessment Must be available to respond for emergency and relief assignments Familiarity with OSHA safety practices and ability to perform duties within safety guidelines Based remotely within the Phoenix, AZ area to support EA’s business partners Willingness and ability to travel up to 80% Valid driver's license and be at least 21 years old to participate in Siemens vehicle plan Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering 10+ years of field service experience commissioning and troubleshooting Experience with protection and control relays Experience with project management software Experience with High Voltage Circuit breakers Knowledge of SF6 gas circuit breakers MSHA 46/48, OSHA 30, NFPA 70E TWIC card NETA/NICET About Siemens
