Job Summary At Prevea Health the Medical Laboratory Technician and Medical Laboratory Scientist are responsible for performing routine laboratory tests and procedures. These positions play a crucial role in collecting, analyzing, and reporting data that will assist providers in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. The position is PRN or as needed.
What You Will Do
Collect, process, and correctly label specimens such as blood, urine, and tissue for analysis.
Perform routine laboratory tests in hematology, immunology, urinalysis, and chemistry, ensuring accurate test results by following quality control protocols.
Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment, troubleshooting and performing routine maintenance as needed.
Education & Qualifications
Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician Associate's program OR Medical Laboratory Science Bachelor's program (required).
Skills and Abilities
Effective written and verbal communication.
Knowledge of current medical terminology and laboratory equipment.
Ability to follow written protocols and perform laboratory testing.
Interpret and analyze numerical data in relation to patient information and testing methodology.
Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions.
Excellent interpersonal skills, fostering work and patient/customer relationships.
Ability to prioritize work and meet changing demands.
Strong problem‑solving skills.
Ability to work under stressful or emergency situations with high concentration and energy levels.
Proficient in the use of EMR systems, computer, phone and office equipment.
Licensing & Certifications
Must possess either the qualifications of a Medical Laboratory Technician or a Medical Laboratory Scientist.
Medical Laboratory Technician: Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technician (AMT) within 1 year of employment (required).
Medical Laboratory Scientist: Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist through ASCP or AMT within 1 year of employment (required).
