Job Summary Provides empathetic pharmacy consulting services to patients regarding effective medication use and drug interaction awareness. Offers preventive and clinical healthcare services, including immunizations, diagnostic testing, and patient outcome services. Ensures prescribed medications are compounded, reviewed, dispensed, and verified accurately according to regulatory guidelines and company policies. Manages an efficient pharmacy workflow, improves financials, and enhances patient experience. Manages pharmacy staff performance and engagement and ensures professional development through training and formal performance management initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

Engage patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services; resolve patient issues promptly and answer questions to ensure a positive experience.

Model and share customer service best practices with team members, demonstrating Walgreens service traits such as curiosity, empathy, and inclusivity.

Connect with patients by anticipating needs and proactively offering services; promote healthcare services such as medication management, drug therapy reviews, and clinical or wellness services.

Participate in community events as requested by the Store Manager, Healthcare Supervisor, or District Manager.

Advise patients on medication usage, side effects, interactions, and alternatives; refer to medical providers when needed.

Perform pharmacist tasks: compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, medication management, and accurate dispensing of prescriptions.

Ensure pharmacy operations comply with regulations, company policies, and standards; establish efficient workflow procedures and coordinate staffing and scheduling.

Apply Good Faith Dispensing principles and state/federal controlled substance laws when filling prescriptions.

Collaborate with Store Manager to develop new business opportunities and strategic initiatives.

Maintain knowledge of pharmacy systems (workflow, prescription fulfillment, billing, clinical documentation, inventory management, POS registers) and support staff and patients with technology.

Process insurance claims accurately, resolve payment rejections, and coordinate with insurers and providers.

Conduct follow‑up with medical providers to clarify medication details and address provider questions.

Perform clinical and wellness services: immunizations, diagnostic testing, disease state management, and other healthcare services.

Support patient registration, exception resolution, and virtual product reviews following company procedures.

Oversee pharmacy maintenance, cleaning, equipment updates, and layout changes to ensure a functional, presentable pharmacy.

Prepare and submit required records, reports, and documentation per state and federal laws.

Collaborate with Store Manager on hiring, discipline, termination, and compliance with employment laws.

Establish expectations and goals, monitor performance, and conduct formal performance reviews.

Identify high‑potential employees and manage career progression.

Address employee relations concerns; maintain morale and positive employee management relationships.

Maintain required licensing, credentialing, and certification as required by federal and state regulations.

Keep current knowledge and skills through journals, publications, and communications; pursue professional development.

Complete required education credits and training modules.

Seek constructive feedback and leverage mentors and coaches.

Communicate corporate health and wellness services to pharmacy staff.

Analyze performance data: pharmacy financials, customer service, inventory; implement improvements.

Develop relationships with local medical community and promote pharmacy business growth.

Basic Qualifications

BS in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited institution.

Current pharmacist license in the applicable state(s).

Certified immunizer or willingness to become one within 90 days.

At least 1 year of pharmacy experience in dispensing, record‑keeping, compliance, operations, software systems, and insurance billing.

Demonstrated knowledge of state and federal controlled substance laws.

Leadership behavior rating ≥3.0 on the most recent performance review and no written disciplinary actions in the past 12 months (internal candidates only).

Preferred Qualifications

Supervisory experience managing pharmacy staff duties.

At least 6 months of experience with Walgreens Co.

Leadership behavior rating ≥3.7 on the most recent performance review (internal candidates only).

Salary Pharmacy Manager: $6,174.00 – $6,783.00 Bi‑Weekly. Salary is based on geography, skills, experience, and other relevant factors. This role will remain open until filled.
