Description We are currently seeking a skilled Locum MD (Medical Doctor) or DO (Osteopathic Doctor) specializing in Gastroenterology. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing temporary medical services to our clients in Richmond. Your expertise will be vital in diagnosing and treating various gastrointestinal conditions, ensuring the well‑being of patients under our care. You will have the opportunity to work on diverse medical cases and contribute significantly to the healthcare industry.

As a Locum Gastroenterologist, you will be responsible for conducting consultations, performing procedures, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to deliver high‑quality patient care. Your role will involve managing a wide range of gastrointestinal disorders, such as inflammatory bowel disease, liver diseases, and gastrointestinal cancers. By utilizing your medical knowledge and skills, you will make a positive impact on the health outcomes of individuals in need of specialized gastroenterological care.

Responsibilities

Conduct consultations with patients to assess their gastrointestinal health.

Perform endoscopic procedures, such as colonoscopies and gastroscopies.

Interpret diagnostic tests and imaging results to formulate accurate diagnoses.

Develop comprehensive treatment plans tailored to each patient's condition.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care effectively.

Monitor patients' progress and adjust treatment strategies as necessary.

Educate patients on preventive measures and lifestyle modifications for gastrointestinal health.

Maintain detailed medical records and documentation of patient interactions.

Requirements

Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.

Board certification in Gastroenterology.

Valid state medical license to practice as a Gastroenterologist.

Demonstrated experience in diagnosing and treating gastrointestinal disorders.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient interactions.

Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced healthcare environment.

Strong analytical skills to interpret medical data and make informed decisions.

Commitment to providing compassionate and evidence‑based care to patients.

Schedule: 7a-7a call shifts, specific dates

Setting: Inpatient

Patient Census: 3 per day

Duties: Inpatient and ER consults

EUS and ERCP required

EMR: Meditech

Must be board‑certified

Paid travel & expenses
