Key Responsibilities

Review design drawings, process documents, quality manuals, inspection reports, and test procedures to ensure all quality requirements are met for assigned products and programs.

Develop and deliver training strategies for Quality Systems and manufacturing associates on floor and lab testing equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, CMMs, vision systems, hardness testers, contour and surface testers, roundness testers).

Assess equipment capability to meet testing specifications.

Establish and maintain inspection standards for auditing raw materials and products throughout the receiving, manufacturing, and shipping stages.

Coordinate audits and maintain proper documentation across all production stages.

Lead quality improvement projects focused on addressing customer complaints or internal/external findings. Collaborate with suppliers, design, and manufacturing teams to analyze root causes and implement corrective actions.

Participate in or lead Kaizen events to drive continuous improvement in product quality and process reliability.

Conduct studies such as CPK (process capability) on all parts supplied to customers.

Maintain quality data, track nonconforming items, and generate status reports using database tools.

Oversee product sorting, analysis of returned parts, and manage training and assignments for team members involved in quality checks.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.

Minimum 3 years of experience in quality engineering, preferably in an automotive manufacturing environment.

Proficiency in quality tools and methods: ATS, SPC, FMEA, APQP, PPAP, capability studies.

Experience with precision measuring tools: calipers, micrometers, CMM, vision systems, etc.

Strong understanding of blueprints and dimensional measurement.

Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and leadership skills.

Customer-focused and detail-oriented.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Experience supervising technical personnel (minimum 2 years preferred).

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint; familiarity with Access is a plus.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Responsible for the supervision and direction of employees within the quality function.

Physical Demands

Primarily desk-based; must be able to sit for extended periods.

Occasionally required to lift or move items up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment

Office-based with occasional exposure to manufacturing areas.

May be required to wear personal protective equipment and steel-toe shoes when on the shop floor.

Generally moderate noise levels.
