Contract to Hire position based out of Huntsville, Alabama.
Job Description As an Assembly Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of assembly lines, leading continuous improvement projects, and implementing lean manufacturing principles. Your role will involve troubleshooting and modifying PLCs, conducting time and labor studies, defect reduction studies, process control changes, and executing cost‑saving projects to enhance line efficiency. This position requires hands‑on involvement and direct support of the assembly process, with a focus on either the sub‑lines or main lines of the TNGA 4‑cylinder engines.
Responsibilities
Ensure smooth operation of assembly lines through continuous improvement projects.
Implement lean manufacturing techniques to enhance production efficiency.
Troubleshoot and modify PLCs for optimal performance.
Conduct time studies, labor studies, and defect reduction studies.
Initiate process control changes and cost‑saving projects.
Support assembly process directly, taking ownership of the process.
Utilize tightening tools, robotics, PLCs, and vision systems (Keyence/Cognex).
Facilitate machine‑to‑machine communication and testing equipment usage.
Essential Skills
3+ years of experience in the automotive industry.
Proficiency in PLC programming and troubleshooting, including ladder logic.
Familiarity with vision systems, particularly Cognex and Keyence.
Experience with robotics/cobots (Universal/Fanuc).
Project management skills.
Expertise in cycle time and cost reduction.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (highly desired).
Experience working closely with maintenance and production teams.
Knowledge of Toyopuck/Robotics.
Understanding of communication protocols such as DeviceNet, Ethernet IP, and MOD‑BUS.
Work Environment This role is based in an engine manufacturing plant where 4‑ and 6‑cylinder engines are machined and assembled. The plant produces engines for various models including the Rav4, Camry, Corolla, Tundra, Sequoia, and Tacoma. The work environment includes 80% time spent on the manufacturing floor and 20% at the desk, offering the opportunity to learn all areas of the plant and gain visibility across all levels of leadership by leading projects in a supportive company culture.
Job Type & Location Contract to Hire position based out of Huntsville, Alabama.
Pay And Benefits Pay range: $28.84 – $48.07/hr.
