Leidos Defense Systems is seeking a
Manufacturing Controls Engineer
to join a team scaling production and creating unique solutions for complex problems. The Manufacturing Controls Engineer will collaborate with product divisions, departments, and business functions to enable real-time KPI tracking and automated data collection for process mistake-proofing and product traceability. The Leidos Defense Sector Manufacturing team includes 5 major production facilities in Huntsville, AL and Colorado Springs, CO. Location for work is Huntsville, Alabama. Leidos Defense Systems Sector / Manufacturing provides a diverse portfolio of systems, solutions, and services covering land, sea, air, space, and cyberspace for customers worldwide. Solutions for Defense include enterprise and mission IT, large-scale intelligence systems, command and control, geospatial and data analytics, cybersecurity, logistics, training, and intelligence analysis and operations support. Primary Responsibilities
Develop installation standards and specific control types for production equipment.
Program PLC, HMI and SCADA systems.
Troubleshoot and commission networks (Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, MTConnect).
Develop and maintain required documentation to support controls applications used in the facility, including operation and maintenance plans.
Make programming changes that are required to maintain and improve processes.
Integrate torque tool DC controllers and Vision System cameras with MES software.
Utilize SCADA system to collect data for Dashboard reporting.
Basic Qualifications
BS degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with 8-12 years of relevant experience in controls engineering and integration.
Experience with Allen Bradley and Fanuc controllers.
Demonstrated project management experience.
Candidate must have demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment.
Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
Must be able to work autonomously and stay focused in a high-stress, fast paced environment to meet customer and management deadlines.
Ability to lead others and work in a collaborative working environment.
Must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance OR meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Programming experience with SQL and/or VBA in Excel.
Experience with Ignition SCADA software and/or MS Power BI dashboards.
Familiarity with Machining, Assembly and Test Manufacturing environments.
Experience with Atlas Copco DC controllers and Cognex or Keyence Vision System cameras.
Experience working in multiple phases of the product life cycle to include prototyping, design and development, and full release to production.
