As a Structural Engineer, you will be using your skills and expertise to design, evaluate, and certify our cutting edge products and services. These cover a very wide range from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft to orbital and space exploration systems. You'll examine complex metallic and composite structures and systems. Your technical duties involve the design and development of new products and processes throughout the product lifecycle.

The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn‑key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection and security solutions worldwide. The MST team has a long legacy of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, commercial and international customers with years of experience in platform operations, engineering and full lifecycle management across domains — air, land, sea, space and cyber.

Responsibilities

Provide analysis and feedback on design development.

Show compliance to structural airworthiness regulations.

Document analysis and airworthiness in technical reports for review by airworthiness authorities.

Review technical reports from other organizations or teams.

Evaluate non‑conforming installations and/or repairs for acceptability.

Manage structural engineering tasking across programs and team members.

Provide airframe structural engineering mentorship to early career engineers.

Qualifications you must have

Bachelor's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering or other related discipline and typically 10 or more years of relevant experience.

Higher education may substitute for relevant experience.

Thorough understanding of engineering principles and practices.

Experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools.

Ability to work in multi‑disciplinary design and development teams.

Advanced knowledge of Static and/or Dynamic Analyses.

Ability to obtain and maintain United States Secret Security Clearance.

Qualifications we prefer

Experience with Commercial Derivative Aircraft and/or Supplemental Type Certificate programs.

Experience in Engineering Simulation using Finite Element structural analysis (FEA) tools such as MSC Patran, Nastran, FEMAP or ANSYS.

Experience performing fatigue and damage tolerance analysis utilizing tools such as NASGRO or AFGROW.

Ability to perform classical analysis using industry‑standard hand calculation methods.

Knowledge of industry‑standard mechanical design principles, to include, but not limited to, parametric design, model‑based definition, material hardware selection, manufacturing and production processes.

Ability to author substantive reports.

Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry.
