Position Summary Sony Honda Mobility of America (SHMA) is seeking a

detail-oriented Automotive Quality Specialist (Final Assembly)

with strong experience in

fit & finish, paint, and interior quality evaluation

at an automotive OEM, dealership, or body shop.

In this role, you will collaborate with SHMA’s Quality Gate inspectors to confirm the quality of vehicles received from our contract manufacturing partner and contribute to quality assessments before shipment. You’ll work closely with internal teams and the manufacturing partner to triage defects, provide feedback on rework priorities, and support continuous improvement efforts.

This is a hands‑on, individual contributor position designed for a customer‑focused professional who thrives in

factory‑style environments

and understands how to balance technical inspection with the

customer’s viewpoint on premium appearance quality .

Job Responsibilities

Support daily operations of SHMA Quality Gate inspections to meet safety, quality, and delivery targets.

Conduct hands‑on quality evaluations of final assembly appearance, including panel alignment, paint finish, and interior trim.

Identify and triage small defects (e.g.,

Collaborate with contract manufacturing partners to prioritize repair and rework activities.

Provide inspection feedback to management and elevate concerns as needed.

Analyze defect trends and contribute findings to drive corrective actions.

Support the execution of the daily shipping plan with transportation partners.

Assist in documenting inspection processes, SOPs, and training materials for inspector teams.

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen quality processes and customer experience.

Required Qualifications

5+ years of experience in a

quality‑related role

within an automotive OEM, dealership, or auto body shop.

Proven ability to judge final assembly appearance quality, including exterior fit & finish, panel alignment, paint color, gloss, and interior trim quality and tactile feel, and door closing/opening sound and function.

Strong ability to differentiate between defect detection and customer‑impact judgment.

Familiarity with quality KPIs and supporting trend analysis.

Experience working in factory or manufacturing environments and understanding non‑office work culture.

Customer‑first mindset, especially for luxury or specialty vehicles.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in final body inspection or quality operations within high‑volume automotive manufacturing.

Background in dealership body shop, paint, or finish operations.

Familiarity with long‑haul vehicle shipping and inspection processes.

Exposure to ISO 9001 or TQM.

Enthusiasm for BEVs and ADAS technologies and openness to the future of electrified mobility.

Interest in evaluating user experience of vehicle software and infotainment systems.

Salary The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $90,000-$115,000. This range does not include any other compensation components or benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant will be performing the job.
