Opportunity
Function as a technical specialist or project lead, providing project coordination, guidance, and expertise on assigned substation projects.
Support a variety of substation projects ranging up to 765 kV in engineering detailed design and EPC.
Develop protection and control design deliverables, including protective relays, panel arrangements, and schematics within high‑voltage substation designs.
Develop physical design deliverables such as yard layout plans, grounding, lightning protection, and auxiliary AC/DC power systems.
Perform or oversee quality review of electrical substation design packages.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
Prepare electrical equipment specifications and Bills of Materials for procurement and construction.
Communicate and coordinate project activities with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
Present proposals, designs and project activities to clients and leadership.
Travel to client and vendor offices and/or project sites for design reviews, construction coordination, and field verification as needed.
Prepare and manage design budgets and schedules.
Support business development and pursuit activities.
This opportunity is located in Tualatin, OR.
Key Responsibilities
Develop knowledge and provide guidance on design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and B&V policies.
Apply knowledge and comply with B&V quality program relative to assigned tasks.
Prepare engineering deliverables for multiple projects, perform research, develop recommendations, and prepare calculations while managing budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
Coordinate with internal and external team members on moderately complex projects.
Assist with identifying key client interests and drivers on high‑voltage substation projects and communicate them to the project team.
Act as a technical specialist providing consultation and guidance to project teams.
Mentor lower‑level professionals and identify successors.
Assist with resource management strategy and handle engineering resources for a discipline.
Administrative Responsibilities
Ensure policies, procedures, and processes are implemented and communicated effectively.
Ensure adherence to corporate and division programs.
Approve timesheets and expense reports.
Preferred Qualifications
High‑voltage (HV) substation design experience – physical and/or protection & controls.
Project lead and technical specialist experience overseeing utility substation clients and projects.
QA/QC review skills.
Experience coordinating and communicating with clients, multidisciplinary leads, and project managers.
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office programs.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program.
Minimum of 5 years of related work experience.
Ability to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (criminal/civil background check, drug screen, motor vehicle records search).
Work Environment/Physical Demands Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based on manager discretion, job performance, and work assignments.
