Position Summary Senior Electrical Engineer, Supplier Quality - Combat Mission Systems
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to provide crucial production and supplier quality support for our Combat Mission Systems business, specifically focused on ground combat vehicles.
The selected candidate will be primarily co-located at a key supplier facility in Huntsville, Alabama, USA , working closely with the supplier team to ensure the highest level of production quality for Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBA) / Circuit Card Assemblies (CCA) and their associated Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) enclosures.
Key Responsibilities As a hands-on engineer embedded with the supplier, you will :
Provide Manufacturing Support : Offer direct electrical engineering expertise in the manufacture of PCBAs / CCAs to resolve supplier quality and manufacturing process concerns.
Quality Assurance & Investigation : Investigate, evaluate, and resolve supplier quality problems by conducting detailed defect investigations , analyzing defect trends, and leading continuous improvement projects.
Drive Process Improvement : Support team-led problem-solving and root-cause analysis activities to eliminate the recurrence of non-conformances. Help suppliers implement process improvements.
Evaluate Non-Conformances : Assess the impact of nonconforming product and evaluate the effectiveness of the supplier's corrective actions.
Technical Compliance : Ensure suppliers clearly understand and adhere to all technical requirements and expectations, promoting a "Zero Defect" mentality .
Communication : Maintain strong communication by providing progress reports and presenting findings to the Integrated Product Team (IPT).
Team Collaboration : Participate in Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs) within the IPT.
Required Qualifications Education & Experience
Education : Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a Related Technical Discipline.
Experience : A minimum of 5 years of work experience in a relevant function and industry.
IPC Standards : Working knowledge and familiarity with IPC-A-600 (Acceptability of Printed Boards) and IPC J-STD-001 (Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies).
Quality Methodologies : Exposure to Failure Analysis , Root Cause Analysis (RCA) , and Corrective / Preventative Actions (CA / PA).
Essential Skills
Technical Comprehension : Strong understanding of technical drawing requirements with the ability to determine compliance.
Problem-Solving : Effective, practical problem solver using structured problem-solving methods and systems.
Communication : Effective, clear communicator with strong written, verbal, and presentation skills .
Software : Proficiency with MS Office Suite and related industry software applications.
Preferred Skills and Experience
Familiarity with, and experience in, IPC-A-610 (Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies) and IPC-A-620 (Requirements and Acceptance for Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies).
Experience with design of PCBA / CCA for aerospace or defense industries.
Working knowledge of quality standards including AS9100 Quality System , AS9102C First Article Requirements , AS9145 APQP / PPAP Requirements , and Source Inspection .
Knowledge of fabrication processes, equipment, test, and instrumentation common in the Aerospace and Defense Industries.
Experience with low voltage (28Vdc) and / or high voltage (610Vdc) electrical power distribution and management.
Familiarity with military standards such as MIL-PRF-31032 and MIL-PRF-55110.
Travel Requirements
Regular Work Location : The candidate's primary work location will be at the assigned supplier facility in Huntsville, Alabama, USA .
Additional Travel : Infrequent travel (approximately 10% or less ) may be required to BAE Systems facilities or other supplier locations.
