The Texas General Land Office is seeking a Loan Specialist III for the Veterans Land Board. The Loan Specialist III performs highly complex (senior‑level) loan specialist work for Veterans Land and Housing.
Work involves setting up, processing, servicing, and monitoring loans with a 92% to 96% accuracy and/or completion rate.
Performs other duties as assigned, including supporting disaster response or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. This may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.
Works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for initiative and independent judgment.

What Your Contributions To The GLO Will Be
Conduct reviews and audits of loan closing packages and materials to determine compliance with requirements, contracts, laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Complete 92% to 96% of assigned new home improvement file reviews within three days of receipt from the Jr. loan processor to comply with RESPA.
Monitor and fund new loans; oversee the completion of loan closing procedures and requirements for home improvement loans.
Provide regular account monitoring of the home improvement account files, ensuring a 92% to 96% completion rate within 45 days.
Perform underwriting to determine the economic feasibility of loans using HUD Title I Guidelines; maintain a 92% to 96% accuracy rate on all commitment review files.
Monitor required closing conditions and documentation to ensure all specifications are met prior to closing.
Track documents and verify submission, reviewing within three business days of receipt.
Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited four‑year college or university with major coursework in finance, business administration, real estate, or a related field is preferred.
Five years of mortgage loan origination, real estate and/or title company experience.
Education and experience may be substituted for one another.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with Texas Veterans Loan Programs.
Knowledge or experience with FHA Title I Property Improvement Loan Program.
Three to five years of experience in finance, banking, or real estate work.
Physical Requirements This position requires primarily sedentary office work, with routine mobility for carrying records, documents, and boxes up to 20 pounds. Extensive computer, telephone, and client/customer contact and communication are required. The job also requires normal cognitive abilities, including learning, recalling, and applying policies and procedures.
