On our Water Resources team, you will bring your experience to support multiple DOT and Municipal projects, working alongside a multidisciplinary team of experienced professionals throughout our entire company.
Types of water resources projects include, but are not limited to:
Riverine system hydraulics & hydrology (H&H)
Floodplain analysis, mapping, and flood mitigation
Scour modeling
Watershed planning and studies
Closed storm system analysis and design
Stormwater management system design
Erosion and sediment control
Stream restoration analysis and design
Green infrastructure design
Essential Function
Deliver world class solutions to our existing portfolio of public/private sector water resources customers
Proactively deliver a wide range of water resource projects in accordance with the scope, schedule, and budget set by the Project Manager
Lead project tasks, including management of task scope, schedule, budget, and personnel/subcontractors with minimal oversight
Provide excellent client services with a focus on quality and timeliness
Report to a Senior Project Manager; meet and work directly with other design team members, project engineers, design technicians, drafters, surveyors, contractors, inspectors, public agency officials, and clients
Provide office and site visit support for assigned and prospective projects
Develop necessary documentation and preliminary modeling, analysis, and due diligence in support of project pursuits
Perform modeling of complex riverine systems and existing watersheds / storm sewer networks, and develop recommended improvement alternatives
Perform H&H design of stormwater control BMPs and produce engineering drawings with SCMs for culverts, bridges, and dams
Prepare clear and concise drainage reports and hydraulic memoranda documenting analysis approach, findings, and recommendations
Develop civil engineering plans and associated deliverables using Autodesk Civil3D, MicroStation, GeoPak and GIS while applying knowledge of local, state, and federal design standards
Participate in client meetings and related coordination for ongoing projects as well as project pursuits.
Provide mentoring and quality review to junior engineering personnel within the Nashville office as well as within other offices throughout the company
Required Skills and Experience
Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
Four (4) - Seven (7) years of experience in water resources engineering
Exceptional knowledge of commonly-used hydrologic and hydraulic computational methodologies and analysis tools/trends
Experience related to hydraulic analysis of riverine systems and culvert/bridge stream crossings for projects located within Tennessee (for TDOT and/or local municipality clients)
Experience with FEMA procedures, regulations, and coordination, including map revisions, no‑rise certifications, etc.
Experience performing field work in support of various water resources projects
Experience with CAD, Microstation/ORD, ArcGIS and ESRI software
Floodplain analysis utilizing HEC‑RAS (1D) software
Hydrologic analysis utilizing HEC‑HMS software
Strong organizational, written and verbal communication, and presentation skills required
Ability to work both collaboratively/in a team environment and independently, with a strong attention to detail and focus on quality
Candidate will work in a diverse and challenging environment and must be capable of working on and coordinating simultaneous tasks and have the ability to coordinate technical matters with public and private entities
Preferred Skills and Experience
Experience performing task/project management activities on small- to medium-sized projects
2-dimensional stream system modeling, analysis, and design utilizing either HEC‑RAS 2D or SMS w/ SRH‑2D software packages
Watershed / Drainage Basin modeling and analysis utilizing either EPA SWMM or PCSWMM software packages
Professional Engineering Registration (PE) in Tennessee, or ability to obtain Tennessee license through reciprocity within 6 months of hire
