Stationary Engineer
Location Monmouth Medical Center, 300 Second Avenue, Long Branch, NJ 07740
Department Plant Operations
Job Summary The Stationary Engineer operates, repairs and maintains gas and oil fired boilers and all associated equipment in the powerhouse. Responsibilities include adjusting feed-water levels, monitoring fuel and air ratios, opening and cleaning boilers, and maintaining a safe and efficient environment.
Essential Functions
Adjust feed-water levels and monitor fuel and air ratios for proper combustion.
Open boilers annually for cleaning and minor repairs.
Attend meetings, conferences, and seminars as scheduled.
Inspect, adjust, and repair equipment in the boiler room and related systems.
Lubricate equipment and maintain a clean, safe condition at all times.
Operate and maintain oil and gas fired boilers, fuel oil heaters, feed-water heaters, and chillers.
Perform preventive maintenance on incinerators, laundry equipment, and mail boiler room equipment.
Record steam pressure, feed water, city water, fuel oil pressure, and stack temperature readings.
Conduct snow removal duties as required.
Other duties as reasonably assigned.
Qualifications
High School graduate or equivalent with on‑the‑job or formal training equivalent to a related program in an accredited vocational school.
1–3 years direct work experience related to boilers and generating equipment.
State of New Jersey Stationary Engineering Blue Seal licensure required.
Valid New Jersey State Driver’s License.
Certifications and Licenses
New Jersey Stationary Engineering Blue Seal licensure.
Valid New Jersey State Driver’s License.
Scheduling Per Diem, Day shift.
Pay Range $25.00 - $32.01 per hour.
