Student Account Specialist (Part-time 28 hrs/wk)
Are you passionate about delivering exceptional service while ensuring financial accuracy? Do you thrive in a dynamic environment where attention to detail and clear communication make a real difference? If so, join our Student Financials Office as a Student Accounts Specialist.
In this ¾-time role, you will play a key part in supporting students and their families as they navigate the financial aspects of their academic journey. You will work closely with the Student Accounts Manager to maintain smooth operations and contribute to a positive student experience.
This position involves more than just numbers — it is about people. You will assist in managing collection processes with professionalism and care, while actively contributing to broader outreach and communication efforts. Whether you're crafting informative messages, participating in student-facing events, or collaborating with departments to streamline financial communication, your voice will help shape a supportive and informed campus community.
You will also provide accurate billing, conduct thorough account analysis, and communicate clearly with students, employees, and campus departments—ensuring that financial information is accessible, timely, and easy to understand.

What You’ll Do In This Position
Manage delinquent accounts up to 90 days past due, including outreach and collections.
Guide students through the Short-Term Loan process, including payment reminders, notifications and support to ensure timely repayment.
Serve as the primary contact for 529 education savings plans ensuring accurate reconciliation with internal and external stakeholders.
Respond to billing inquiries, refund requests, and financial matters with professionalism and clarity.
Analyze student and employee accounts to resolve issues related to charges, payments, scholarships, loans and financial aid.
Contribute to student and parent communications, including newsletters, website updates and orientation support.
Lead the department involvement in the annual student and parent orientation events by updating handouts, brochures, and other materials, and providing on-site support.
Provide backup support for student employees by assisting with cases, emails, calls and financial processes.
Participate in special projects that advance departmental goals and enhance Student Financial Services.
Required
A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
Associate’s degree in a business or related field plus one year of experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
Ability to manage sensitive financial information with discretion and integrity
Proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Skilled in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
Preferred
Familiarity with accounting principles (knowledge of debits and credits)
