Opportunity As a Structural – Transmission Line Engineer you will have the opportunity to:

Support design engineering and analysis on transmission scopes.

Assist with large, extensive 345kV+ rebuild and greenfield projects, including trending technologies such as HVDC and 765kV.

Collect and assimilate data, perform research, and prepare calculations in accordance with Black & Veatch and industry standards.

Develop recommendations for equipment and materials, ensuring work stays within budget, on schedule, and meets quality requirements.

Provide guidance to engineering team members and maintain positive client relationships.

Contribute to business development activities.

Serve as a technical specialist, applying advanced engineering techniques with minimal supervision.

Expand knowledge in the discipline.

Key Responsibilities

Apply independent knowledge of departmental design guides, standards, systems, and engineering codes.

Consistently comply with Black & Veatch’s quality program and provide guidance to others.

Prepare complex engineering deliverables and perform research to recommend equipment and materials.

Prepare engineering calculations using standard methods and principles.

Manage assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements.

Plan and conduct independent evaluations and adaptations of engineering techniques.

Review lower‑level engineering work or assignments.

Coordinate with internal and external team members on moderately complex projects.

Assist in identifying key client interests and drivers on less complex projects.

Provide support for business development or pursuit activities.

Design complete projects of moderately complex scope within assigned practice areas.

Assist with performance management, mentoring, and corrective actions for staff.

Implement policies, procedures, and processes effectively for the work group.

Approve timesheets and expense reports.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong PLS CADD experience and proficiency.

Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Advanced knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides.

Experience in client interaction and business opportunity development.

Ability to think quickly on the job site and in front of customer personnel.

Strong team building, delegation, and prioritization skills.

Experience designing utility‑scale electrical transmission systems.

Structural design of transmission steel structures and their foundations.

Basic structural steel and concrete experience using 3D analysis and design software.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program.

Minimum of 5 years related work experience.

Must be able to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements, including background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record search.

Certifications Professional registration or licensure in the designated home office country is typically required or actively pursued.

Work Environment / Physical Demands Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based on manager discretion and job performance.

Salary Plan ENG: Engineering – Job Grade 016.
