JOB DESCRIPTION About the Campaign
The candidate is a leading voice for progress in California and a proven champion for our values. As an elected official representing voters in the Bay Area, the candidate has delivered real results on issues like housing, transportation, climate change, LGBTQ+ equality, and criminal justice reform. Now, they are running for Congress to bring their effective, progressive leadership to Washington D.C. Their campaign is building a diverse, passionate, and dedicated team to engage voters across the district and secure victory in 2026.
Position Summary
The Organizing Director will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive organizing and field plan, including voter contact, volunteer recruitment and management, grassroots organizing, and digital volunteer contact and organizing. This is a critical role that will directly impact our ability to reach and persuade voters. The ideal candidate will be a highly organized, self-motivated, and experienced professional with a deep commitment to progressive values and winning.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute a robust field & organizing plan that aligns with overall campaign strategy and goals.
Recruit, train, and manage a team of organizers and volunteer leaders.
Oversee all voter contact activities, including door-to-door canvassing, phone banking, texting, and online and in-person relational organizing.
Set and monitor weekly and daily goals for voter contact, volunteer engagement, and data collection.
Manage and maintain the campaign's voter database (VAN).
Organize and execute community events, house parties, and other grassroots activities.
Develop and implement volunteer recruitment and retention strategies, especially fun and creative ways to keep volunteers engaged.
Prepare regular reports on field progress and provide strategic recommendations.
Collaborate with other staff, including communications, finance, and digital.
Ensure compliance with all relevant finance laws and reporting requirements.
Qualifications
2-3 cycles of experience in organizing or management on electoral campaigns.
Demonstrated ability to recruit, train, and manage staff and volunteers.
Proficiency with VAN (PDI experience ok as a stand-in), Mobilize, and other campaign technology and platforms, and social media.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work long and irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
Commitment to progressive values and the Democratic Party.
Fluency in Cantonese or other languages spoken is a plus.
