Key Responsibilities We Will Trust You With : The Senior Accountant can be located in Houston TX or our Erie, PA locations and is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies. This role supports the monthly close process, prepares journal entries, reconciles balance sheet accounts, and assists with financial reporting. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, excellent analytical skills, and a solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and internal controls.
General Accounting & Close Activities :
Prepare and post journal entries accurately and timely for monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate variances.
Support the preparation of monthly financial statements and related management reports.
Maintain fixed asset schedules, accruals, and prepaids.
Ensure transactions are recorded in compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
Financial Analysis & Reporting :
Assist in variance analysis of actuals versus budget or forecast.
Provide financial data and analysis to support internal and external audits.
Support preparation of year-end audit schedules and respond to auditor requests.
Process Improvement & Controls :
Identify and implement process improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency in accounting operations.
Maintain compliance with internal controls, ensuring documentation is complete and up to date.
Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure proper recording of transactions and process consistency.
Systems & Tools :
Utilize ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar) to perform daily accounting functions.
Maintain data accuracy and integrity in accounting systems.
Support the transition or implementation of new accounting systems as needed.

Your Areas of Knowledge and Expertise that matter most for this role :
Education : Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or progress toward CPA certification preferred.
Experience : 5 or more years of experience in general accounting, preferably in a manufacturing or multi-entity environment.
Technical Skills : Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, reconciliations, journal entries, and accrual accounting.
Systems Proficiency : Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent) and advanced Excel skills.
Analytical Skills : Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve accounting discrepancies.
Communication : Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to work effectively across teams.
Teamwork : Collaborative and adaptable; comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Key Interactions : Internally : Collaborates closely with Finance, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Operations teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and transactional integrity. Partners with Plant Controllers, FP&A, and other business unit leaders to support month‑end close activities and resolve discrepancies.
Externally : Interfaces with external auditors, tax consultants, and vendors as needed to support audits, reconciliations, and compliance requirements.

General physical conditions include working in a temperature-controlled office environment with good air quality, adequate lighting and low level of noise.
