Sr. Thermal Systems Engineer - Lunar Permanence
Blue Origin is seeking a Sr. Thermal Systems Engineer to join the Lunar Permanence business unit. As part of this team, you will contribute to the definition and development of spacecraft thermal control systems. The successful candidate will work directly with the vehicle design team as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program. You will play a key role in developing the Lunar Transportation system that will return humans to the Moon. Responsibilities: Develop and manage Thermal specifications and requirements Develop and manage Thermal interfaces, including Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and models Decompose requirements from system and subsystem-levels into lower-level requirements Thermal point of contact for inputs to vehicle system safety products and risk management Mentor early-career Thermal Systems Engineers on the Lunar Program Standardize Thermal Systems Engineering approaches Own the verification and validation of Thermal requirements Perform traceability analysis of requirements to higher levels, and to verification activities Lead trade studies across the Thermal IPT and with other IPTs Serve as the Thermal point-of-contact for other IPTs Utilize Systems Engineering tools such as Jama, Windchill and Cameo Qualifications: Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering 8+ years of relevant Thermal Engineering or Systems Engineering experience on space missions Understanding of heat transfer fundamentals in space environment Strong understanding and application of Systems Engineering fundamentals Familiarity with common spacecraft thermal hardware Strong understanding of aerospace hardware verification and validation process Desired: M.S. or PhD degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering 12+ years of relevant Thermal Engineering or Systems Engineering experience on space missions Demonstrated expertise in pumped fluid loop hardware and semi-passive devices Familiar with NASA Systems Engineering process and standards Experience solving a variety of thermal problems demonstrating breadth in application Expert in requirements management software such as Jama Compensation Range:
