POSITION PURPOSE: Serves as Lead Coordinator providing guidance and support for Trinity Health Southeast Michigan Medical Staff Services (MSS), which includes Ann Arbor, Chelsea, Livingston, Livonia, and Oakland locations. Provides support to medical staff and administrative leadership, the organized medical staff, and medical staff committees pertaining to medical staff appointments, compliance, bylaws, rules and regulations, and policy interpretation. Responsible for the consistent application, effectiveness, and integrity of medical staff programs and processes, including the credentialing, privileging and peer review processes, through regular auditing and data analysis. Ensures coordination of crossover providers at TH SEMI facilities to maintain alignment and promote efficiency. Assist local MSS Managers with management of daily operations within assigned functional areas and ensures alignment with established priorities and consistent, timely completion of work assignments. Provides input into hiring decisions, as well as colleague performance planning and review sessions. THIS POSITION IS AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE MSS TEAM AND IS RESPONSIBLE FOR LEADING THE SEMI MSS TEAM IN A VARIETY OF TASKS AT THE DIRECTION OF MSS LEADERSHIP IN THE EFFICIENT AND EFFECTIVE COMPLETION OF CREDENTIALING, PRIVILEGING AND PEER REVIEW PROCESSES FOR TRINITY HEALTH SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN RHMS. THIS ROLE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ENSURING COMPLIANCE WITH CREDENTIALING POLICIES, PRIVILEGING REQUIREMENTS, AND PEER REVIEW PROCESSES AND PROCEDURES; DATA BASE MANAGEMENT AND ANALYTICS; FACILITATION OF STATE AND ACCREDITATION SURVEYS; AND PARTICIPATING IN DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF PROCESS IMPROVEMENT INITIATIVES RELATED TO MEDICAL STAFF PROCESSES. Accountable for the development, facilitation, monitoring and ongoing process improvement of onboarding, credentialing, expirable, peer review (FPPE, OPPE), and other essential operations and processes. Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the Medical Staff Services colleagues, supporting MSS leadership, including the direction and maintenance of a comprehensive credentialing program to assure continued accreditation and deemed status. Serve as a liaison between MSS leadership and internal and external stakeholders. Build positive physician/practitioner relationships by engaging in dialogue, identifying areas of improvement, and resolving conflicts related to MSS activities. Assist in the development of policies and procedures related to MSS. Provide interpretation and education. Act as a subject matter expert and liaison for research and knowledge of accreditation and State and Federal regulatory guidelines. Research, develop, and maintain guidelines to ensure compliance. Monitor and revise credentialing and privilege request forms. Research and work with medical staff to develop and revise privileging criteria reflecting current training and competency requirements. Own FPPE process and ensure compliance with medical staff leadership. Ensure accuracy and confidentiality of credentialing processes and data through audits and analysis. Support regulatory surveys (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS). Serve as the credentialing software “super-user” and lead training, education, and performance improvement to promote efficiency. Lead coordination of high-level medical staff committees, orientations, and Board of Trustees meetings. Identify and communicate strategies to improve workflows. Establish and track key performance metrics to drive process improvement and ensure operational integrity. Maintain knowledge of Trinity Health Integrity & Compliance Program & Code of Conduct and other policies to ensure ethical and professional behavior. Education, Experience and Certification/Licensure
Education:
Associate’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration or similar degree OR equivalent. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience:
At least 3 years of healthcare administrative/office experience with working knowledge of federal, state and TJC accreditation standards and medical terminology. MSS, hospital credentialing and privileging, and peer review experience preferred. Program management experience and PDCA cycles or Lean/Six Sigma preferred. Certification/Licensure:
None required. CPMSM or CPCS preferred. Essential Functions And Responsibilities

Supervise MSS staff and coordinate daily activities to maintain a robust credentialing program and accreditation standards. Act as liaison to stakeholders; foster physician/practitioner relationships and resolve MSS-related issues. Develop and interpret MSS policies and procedures; provide education as needed. Maintain knowledge of accreditation standards; ensure compliance across processes. Maintain credentialing data integrity and support regulatory surveys. Lead MSS software initiatives, training, and performance improvement efforts. Lead high-level medical staff committees and related meetings. Identify workflow improvements and track performance metrics. Maintain knowledge of compliance programs and code of conduct, ensuring ethical behavior. Required Skills And Abilities
Proficiency with MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills for coordination with hospital personnel, medical staff, and external agencies. Leadership to conduct educational programs for staff at all levels and to challenge established processes constructively. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities related to credentialing and MSS operations. Extensive knowledge of Joint Commission, CMS, and Michigan regulations related to Medical Staff functions. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work with limited supervision.
