The Division of Development and Alumni Relations at the University of Georgia advances the goals, objectives, and priorities of the university by generating private financial support, building, and maintaining relationships with alumni and donors, and assisting students with career development opportunities.
Career Center The University of Georgia Career Center is the provider of centralized career services to undergraduate, graduate students, and alumni. Staff work collaboratively with faculty and staff of all departments to enhance the career success of UGA students/alumni. Services include career counseling, job search training, and employer connections, and the center serves as a corporate gateway to the university.
Employment Details Employment Type: Employee (Full Time)
Work Schedule: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm; willing and able to work evenings or weekends as necessary.
Salary: $74,880 (advertised)

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent and 8 years of professional experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, or a related field.
Demonstrated ability to design and lead high‑impact career programs that serve various student populations, including those from differing backgrounds.
Strong understanding of career development theory, student needs across academic disciplines, and current trends in career education and labor markets.
Proven track record of developing, executing, and assessing career‑related events and initiatives at scale.
Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate across stakeholder groups including students, faculty, employers, and alumni.
Exceptional project management and organizational skills; ability to prioritize and lead multiple initiatives simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment.
Proficiency with career services technologies (e.g., Handshake), data–informed decision making, and innovative digital engagement tools.
Position Summary Reporting to the Career Center’s Director of Career Education, the Associate Director of Career Programs coordinates university‑wide career programming including bootcamps, learning cohorts, networking dinners, conferences, and the Arch Ready Professionalism Certificate. This role also coordinates outreach and develops strategies for engaging students across satellite campuses and UGA Online Learning, supervising a team of Career Consultants and graduate assistants.
Key Responsibilities
Career Education Programming and Curriculum Development Leverage data‑driven insights to develop and implement long‑term programming supporting undergraduate and graduate career education.
Lead coordination and post‑event assessment of the Arch Ready Professionalism Program, Career Education Conferences, and Networking Dinners.
Develop and maintain general undergraduate and population‑specific eLC modules in partnership with Career Center staff.
Coordinate Career Fair Prep stations and support major Fall and Spring Career Fair events.
Supervision and Performance Management Supervise 3–4 Career Consultants and/or 1 Graduate Assistant.
Provide guidance and support through meetings, reports, planning sessions, and professional development opportunities.
Develop KPIs and performance expectations with the Director of Career Education, mentor and evaluate staff annually.
Academic Collaboration and Student Access Support Actively liaise with School and College Academic Advising teams to provide updates and resources and evaluate student needs.
Maintain regular communication with UGA satellite campuses and UGA Online Learning to determine Career Services resource and programming needs.
Support Career Consultants with appointments during high‑demand periods and offer 15‑minute career quick‑chat appointments for general support.
Stakeholder Engagement and Institutional Collaboration Engage regularly with key UGA contacts (faculty, administrators, coordinators, alumni relations, development).
Attend division‑wide events and meetings such as Discover DAR, Townhall, and Development meetings.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Competencies
Professional experience in career services or related area, with demonstrated expertise in career exploration, coaching, and job‑related skill development.
Experience supervising professional or student staff and providing guidance in high‑impact career programs.
Familiarity with career assessment tools (e.g., MBTI, Strong, CliftonStrengths) and their application.
Ability to manage multiple complex projects, prioritize competing demands, and work effectively with diverse populations in a collaborative environment.
Physical Demands
Work in a standard office environment.
Travel in and out of state as necessary.
Sit and work at a computer workstation for extended periods.
Use electronic mail, telephone, face‑to‑face discussions, paper correspondence.
