Career Center

The University of Georgia Career Center is the provider of centralized career services to undergraduate, graduate students, and alumni at The University of Georgia. Career Center staff work collaboratively with faculty and staff of all departments to enhance the career success of University of Georgia students/alumni. Several of the "nuts & bolts" services the

Career Center provides to its students include career counseling, job search training, and opportunities to connect with employers.

The Career Center also serves as a corporate gateway to the University by helping employers meet key faculty/staff, understand culture and curriculum, and successfully recruit

Special Instructions to Applicants

This position is structured as a permanent position within the Division of Development & Alumni Relations. We are unable to sponsor a work visa for this position.

For the first two years, this role will be based within the Career Center, be physically located in Conner Hall, and will report to the Director of Employer Relations within the Career Center. The position will also collaborate closely with the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences ( CAES ) on a daily basis, with a dotted-line reporting relationship to an Associate Dean of

CAES . After the initial two-year period, the position will transition to be based within

CAES , with physical placement in the college and no official reporting line to Career Center.

Minimum Qualifications Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications

The preferred qualifications for this position include a master's degree in higher education, student personnel administration, counseling, and/or experience in the agricultural sector.

Agricultural sector experience and knowledge of industry trends.

Career services experience. Specifically, employer relations and event planning experience.

Career assessment experience.

Ability to work with various groups and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Position Summary The Assistant Director of Employer Relations, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences has a dual report line to the

Career Center Director of Employer Relations and the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences ( CAES ) Associate Dean for Academic and Faculty Affairs. This individual is responsible for cultivating employer relationships, executing effective employer engagement targeted toward career and internship opportunities, and communicating regularly with Career Center leadership and

leadership to strengthen employer engagement and better serve

CAES

students. This individual will also manage processes related to communication and event promotion, event coordination, program assessment, and data reporting.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

Proven ability to manage employer relationships, as well as faculty and staff relationships

Knowledgeable of career needs, skills, and trends related to alumni, general career development, and job market trends

Strong verbal and written communications skills; excellent presentation skills

Ability to manage multiple projects; strong planning and organizational skills

Demonstrated program development and events coordination experience

Proficient computer skills, especially web-based technology

Duties/Responsibilities Develop and Execute an Effective Employer Relations Strategy for the College Develop and maintain a menu of opportunities employers can choose from (recruitment activities, classroom presentations, student organization speaker opportunities, and special events) to engage with students. Evaluate annually.

Consult with employers on their campus recruiting strategy and encourage participation in career fairs and other student engagement opportunities.

Provide high-quality customer service to employers throughout their engagement with the College.

Network with employers at career fairs and recruiting events to build and maintain strong relationships.

Stay attuned to industry trends impacting the College.

Manage employer contacts and track engagement activity utilizing data from the donor database ( GAIL ) and the job and internship posting platform (Handshake).

Duties/Responsibilities Facilitate Effective Collaboration and Communication Communicate information about upcoming events and programming to relevant

stakeholders and leaders.

Promote employer engagement events to students utilizing

digital signage, listservs, newsletters, social media, and more, coordinating with the Career Center,

Office of Marketing and Communications, and the

Office of Development and Alumni Relations.

Meet regularly with faculty in the College to understand alignment of academic programs and industry needs.

Support the planning and execution of the annual Agricultural and Environmental Career & Internship Fair.

Work closely with the College's career consultant and other personnel to develop and execute the employer relations strategy.

Duties/Responsibilities Assessment and Evaluation Design and implement annual assessment and evaluation plan to measure program effectiveness. The plan should gather feedback from students, faculty, and employers.

Use assessment data to make informed decisions about future engagement.
