Network Core IP Engineer – Nokia & Juniper Experience (100% Remote) TEKsystems is currently seeking a Core IP Network Engineer II or III for a 2‑year, 100% remote contract opening.

Required Experience

7+ years of core IP network engineering/design in enterprise environments, preferably from ISP.

Experience with MPLS, ISIS, BGP, Nokia equipment, Juniper equipment, MOP creation and Layer‑2/Layer‑3.

Description Engineer II/III, IP Engineering position is expected to provide engineering design and implementation services necessary to support the company’s IP/MPLS core network, carrier Ethernet transport systems, cellular data core systems, and/or video transmission services.

Essential Duties

Test new technologies and service architectures in lab environments.

Plan, design, implement, and document new network implementations.

Complete engineering estimates and installation packages as needed.

Provide escalation and troubleshooting support for operations teams.

Provide mentorship of more junior staff.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

High‑level understanding of high availability, redundancy, reliability, scalability, and security.

Advanced configuration of Alcatel/Nokia, Cisco, Brocade, or Juniper routers and switches.

Routing protocol expertise – BGP, ISIS, OSPF, EIGRP.

Project management concepts and experience with scheduling and budgeting.

Familiarity with RSVP, LDP, PIM.

Data‑center network design and common transport technologies (Ethernet, SONET, TDM, Fiber, Microwave, Satellite, Wi‑Fi, cellular).

Layer‑2 Ethernet technologies – VLANs, STP, LACP, MC‑LAG.

Strong analytic, strategic, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Self‑directed, highly focused on goals and collaborative.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in a carrier Ethernet or large ISP environment.

High School diploma or equivalent required.

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, physics, telecommunications or related field required; graduate degree may substitute for professional experience on a year‑for‑year basis.

Certifications

Industry specific certifications relevant to the discipline are highly valued.
