Lucid Motors
Leading the future in luxury electric and mobility
At Lucid, we set out to introduce the most captivating, luxury electric vehicles that elevate the human experience and transcend the perceived limitations of space, performance, and intelligence. Vehicles that are intuitive, liberating, and designed for the future of mobility.
We plan to lead in this new era of luxury electric by returning to the fundamentals of great design – where every decision we make is in service of the individual and environment. Because when you are no longer bound by convention, you are free to define your own experience.
Come work alongside some of the most accomplished minds in the industry. Beyond providing competitive salaries, we’re providing a community for innovators who want to make an immediate and significant impact. If you are driven to create a better, more sustainable future, then this is the right place for you.
We are currently seeking a High Voltage Systems & Modeling Engineer II, HV Battery. This position requires an engineer with a solid foundation in high‑voltage systems, modeling methodologies, and a passion for advancing electric vehicle technology. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can‑do attitude and approaches their work with curiosity, collaboration, and determination. Candidates will be expected to learn quickly, contribute to cross‑functional projects, and uphold Lucid’s high standards of technical excellence within a fast‑paced environment.
Role
Contribute to the development of next‑generation high‑voltage (HV) systems and vehicle architectures alongside a team of experienced engineers.
Support the definition and documentation of system requirements, architecture diagrams, and validation plans.
Build and maintain simulation models of electrical and thermal systems to evaluate performance, efficiency, and thermal behavior.
Perform trade studies and analyses to support component selection, control strategy development, and subsystem design optimization.
Collaborate across disciplines to understand and model interactions between subsystems including battery, inverter, DC/DC converter, HVAC, and on‑board charger.
Participate in validation activities such as SIL, HIL, component, and full‑system testing, correlating results with simulation outputs.
Analyze test and fleet data to refine models, update requirements, and improve prediction accuracy.
Contribute to system‑level documentation, DFMEA inputs, and requirements traceability under guidance from senior engineers.
Develop scripts, tools, and workflows that automate model setup, data processing, or report generation.
Engage in design reviews, technical discussions, and continuous learning to strengthen your understanding of HV system behavior and modeling best practices.
Qualifications
At least 2+ years of experience in HV systems and/or the automotive industry.
Solid understanding of engineering first principles related to energy systems, thermodynamics, or electrical networks.
Familiarity with modeling and simulation tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, or Python.
Interest in system‑level design, control strategy development, and validation workflows (SIL, HIL, or equivalent).
Basic understanding of lithium‑ion battery systems, high‑voltage components, and automotive electrical architectures.
Analytical and problem‑solving mindset with attention to detail and data accuracy.
Effective written and verbal communication skills for collaboration across disciplines.
Eagerness to learn, take ownership, and contribute in a fast‑paced, innovative environment.
Preferred
Experience with control systems, optimization, or multi‑physics simulation.
Exposure to EV, hybrid, or energy storage system development.
Familiarity with DFMEA, DVP&R, or requirements management tools.
Experience with data visualization and analysis (Grafana, Tableau, or equivalent).
Knowledge of vehicle thermal and electrical interactions (HVAC, charging systems, power distribution).
Experience with version control and collaboration tools (git, JIRA, Confluence).
Education Requirements BS (and preferably MS) in a relevant engineering discipline.
