The Role: The Sr Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and validation of medium-voltage electrical systems and components used in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and commercial electric vehicle (EV) platforms. The role focuses on component design/development/validation and system integration of components such as inverters, converters, wiring harnesses, transformers, charging systems and power distribution equipment. Senior EE will work on the development of both of EV-related systems and energy systems. The vehicle systems include new electric drive systems for heavy-duty vehicles, including trucks, buses, boats, trains, port equipment, airport GSE, and other commercial vehicle systems. CSI’s also develops a line of BESS products to support transportable vehicle charging and grid support at temporary power locations. Strong experience in heavy duty vehicle systems and BESS functions such as grid charging, grid forming and following, export power, and knowledge of AC grid interaction, hybrid energy architectures, and compliance with industry standards such as UL1973, UL9540/UL9540A, and UL508.
Drive the Future of Commercial Vehicle Electrification Are you ready to electrify the transportation industry? We're looking for a passionate and innovative Electrical Design Engineer to help shape the future of electrified commercial vehicles. This is more than a job—it's your chance to collaborate with forward-thinking customers and help bring cutting‑edge electrical components to life.
As a key member of our Electrification Engineering Team, you'll lead the design and validation of high‑voltage (HV) electrical components—from battery energy storage systems to HV junction boxes, controllers, inverters, heaters, harnesses, and more. You’ll work hand‑in‑hand with customers, suppliers, and internal experts to accelerate the development and application of advanced electrification solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and validate medium-voltage(12–2000V) electrical subsystems for use in EV power platforms and stationary energy solutions.
Specify and integrate components including inverters, converters, power distribution units, transformers, AC-DC and DCDC power modules, charging systems, lithium and sodium batteries, power distribution panels, and harnesses/connectors.
Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards and certifications, including UL1973, UL508, UL9540A, and applicable grid codes.
Conduct electrical system‑level calculations including load flow, short‑circuit, fault protection, thermal analysis, and grounding strategies.
Interpret AC grid requirements and apply system‑level knowledge to the integration of CSI products into customer applications.
Create and maintain technical documentation, including schematics, interface specifications, wiring diagrams, test plans, and validation reports.
Support testing and commissioning activities, including field validation, issue troubleshooting, and system optimization.
Participate in cross‑functional collaboration with mechanical, software, and controls engineers, as well as suppliers and customers.
Support cost estimation, BOM development, and trade‑off analysis for component selection and system design.
Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and technicians as required.
Maintain awareness of emerging industry standards, energy technologies, and competitive systems.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or other technology related field required. Master’s or higher degree preferred.
Minimum 5 years (7-10 desired) of professional experience in medium-voltage electrical system design or energy system integration.
Knowledge of high‑power electrical systems for both mobile and stationary applications.
Experience working with battery energy storage systems (BESS), microgrids, and high‑power vehicle charging systems.
Knowledge of medium voltage 600-1000V safety and design standards.
Experience with commercial EVs, heavy‑duty vehicle electrification, or mobile power systems.
