About the role As a

Senior Mainframe Developer , you will make an impact by designing, developing, and implementing robust mainframe solutions that support critical business operations. You will be a valued member of the

Technology & Engineering

team and work collaboratively with offshore developers, business analysts, and project stakeholders.

In this role you will:

Analyze and review requirements related to Mainframe and zOS systems.

Develop and maintain applications using COBOL, VSAM, DB2, CICS, and JCL.

Design and implement new API-based zOS applications.

Lead and mentor offshore development teams to ensure quality and timely delivery.

Conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and support production deployment activities.

What you need to have to be considered:

Proven experience in Mainframe development with strong expertise in COBOL, VSAM, DB2, CICS, and JCL.

Hands‑on experience with zOS and API development.

Ability to lead and coordinate offshore development teams.

Experience in conducting UAT and supporting production implementations.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

These will help you stand out:

Experience working in Agile or hybrid development environments.

Familiarity with DevOps practices in mainframe environments.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Prior experience in financial services or large enterprise systems.

Ability to mentor junior developers and foster team collaboration.

Salary and Other Compensation Applications will be accepted until November 17th, 2025.

The annual salary for this position is between $100,000 - $117,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
