Ascension Search Partners has been retained by a rapidly growing, U.S.-based consumer products company with a strong national footprint to identify a Head of Corporate Development to lead its acquisition and integration strategy. The company manufactures and distributes high-quality home products across residential and commercial markets and is entering an accelerated growth phase driven by strategic M&A. This role will be responsible for building and executing the company’s acquisition strategy across distribution, manufacturing, and services—driving long-term growth and market expansion.
Job Summary This newly created leadership role will serve as the company’s primary architect and executor of its M&A roadmap. The Head of Corporate Development will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and integrating acquisition opportunities that expand market share, diversify capabilities, and drive long-term enterprise value. Reporting directly to the CEO, this individual will collaborate closely with finance and operations leadership to ensure strategic alignment and seamless execution across all stages of the deal lifecycle. The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial, hands‑on dealmaker with a strong background in private equity, search funds, or corporate development, and a demonstrated ability to translate strategic vision into measurable growth.
Primary Duties M&A Strategy & Execution
Build and manage a robust acquisition pipeline through direct outreach, intermediaries, and offmarket sourcing
Evaluate opportunities through financial modeling, valuation analyses, and preliminary diligence
Lead due diligence across financial, legal, and operational areas, coordinating internal and external advisors
Partner with executive leadership on negotiations, deal structuring, and closing
Develop and execute post‑acquisition integration plans in collaboration with operating teams
Business Development & Process Leadership
Establish a repeatable process for sourcing, screening, and closing transactions
Conduct direct outreach to owner‑operated and family‑run businesses in target markets
Work closely with leadership to align acquisition strategy with corporate growth priorities
Bring a hands‑on, entrepreneurial approach to building the corporate development function from the ground up
Educational/Experience Level
5–10 years of experience in corporate development, private equity, or investment banking, ideally within the lower middle market
Proven track record sourcing and executing founder‑led or privately held business acquisitions
Deep experience leading transactions end‑to‑end, from origination through integration
Strong financial modeling, valuation, and due diligence skills
Background in HVAC, building products, home services, or adjacent industries preferred
High‑energy, self‑directed professional comfortable operating autonomously in a lean environment
Entrepreneurial, process‑oriented, and growth‑minded leader who thrives on building and scaling initiatives
