What To Expect
The successful candidate will have extensive theoretical and hands‑on experience in all facets of various mechanical joining technologies and related equipment, as well as experience managing new product introductions, joint design and optimization.
What You’ll Do
Work with responsible design groups for designing joints and torque/load calculations
Responsible for creating, designing, validating, and analyzing each joint on the Tesla products and responsible for Rotary Tool, Residual, and Repair Torque value creations for each criticality level joint
Lead and assist production in all quality and process‑related torque/clamp load topics and issues
Project management: implementing correct torque values for both in‑house and tier‑assembled joints
Work with the Joining/Fastener Laboratory to prioritize, execute, and report each joint test
Manage the joint verification process, implementation, and improve the Joint Calculator by creating more precise data, new features, and improving the UI
Ensure implementation of correct torque values for both in‑house and tier‑assembled joints
What You’ll Bring
Degree in Mechanical, Materials Engineering, or equivalent experience
Exceptional understanding of the interactions between torque, clamp load, and friction
Experience in fastener engineering or a related field
Experience developing torque values based on design requirements
Experience with 2D and 3D design (Catia V5 preferred)
Experience with fastener/joint tests (e.g., destructive and non‑destructive tests such as clamp load, torque, joint slip test)
Experience with GD&T and quality control

Expected Compensation $92,720 – $206,520 per year plus cash and stock awards and benefits. Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location and job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.
