Position Summary In partnership with Tampa General Hospital (TGH) Heart & Vascular Institute, the Division of Cardiovascular Sciences seeks an academic non‑invasive general cardiologist for a full‑time 12‑month salaried faculty appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor rank. The appointment carries attending staff privileges at TGH and affiliated hospitals. Candidates with a significant teaching focus are preferred.
Responsibilities
Clinical: Provide inpatient general cardiology consults, non‑invasive call and coverage, read EKGs and stress tests; participate in the Echo Lab and transesophageal echocardiography as certified by a national organization; provide outpatient clinic services at USF Health; diagnose and treat cardiovascular disorders; conduct early‑detection screenings; maintain accurate patient records; coordinate referrals; and collaborate with patients, physicians, staff and administration.
Teaching: Deliver didactic instruction and mentor medical graduates, residents and post‑doctoral fellows; conduct patient exams and order diagnostic testing; develop treatment and disease‑management plans; and prescribe medication.
Academic: Engage in research, scholarship, service, and related administrative duties; advise students and residents; represent the university on collegiate or statewide committees as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Doctoral/Medical degree from an accredited institution with a demonstrated record in teaching, academic research, and service.
Compliance with university criteria for the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor.
For Associate or Full Professor, evidence of creative work, scholarly publications, and recognition as an authority in the field.
Preferred Qualifications
Teaching experience with students, residents, or clinical research/scholarship experience.
Level II certification in Echocardiography preferred.
Expertise in adult non‑invasive heart disease assessment, including surface echo, trans‑esophageal echo, stress echo, and adult congenital heart disease.
Experience with exercise testing, ECG interpretation, consultation, and inpatient coronary intensive care or similar settings; two years in non‑invasive cardiology preferred.
