Commercial AI Product Owner
Role Summary:
The Commercial AI Product Owner will lead an AI product for the commercial AI Acceleration team to design, develop, and scale real-time messaging suggestions for end customers, leveraging approved content and logic defined in partnership with marketers to improve HCP engagement effectiveness and drive business outcomes.
Responsibilities
Business engagement: Build strong relationships with end customers to understand call workflows, identify pain points, and translate needs into product requirements.
Roadmap ownership: Translate approved business cases into a pod roadmap with clear scope, milestones, success metrics, and risks, in partnership with Digital and marketing stakeholders.
Backlog management: Own the intake, refinement, sizing, and prioritization of backlog items to maximize business value and impact to business teams within capacity constraints.
Design readiness: Partner with translators and UX to define problem statements, message flows, prompts, and UI specifications tailored to field requirements, including designing the taxonomy to map barriers to each individual HCP.
Governance alignment: Ensure compliance with data access, model approvals, risk controls, brand, and regulatory requirements before development begins.
Pod leadership: Lead a cross‑functional team of 6–10 (data science, ML engineering, full‑stack, solution architecture, UX, agent ops, business translators) through iterative development cycles.
Release management: Oversee release readiness including test plans, go/no‑go decisions, stakeholder alignment, and deployment execution with engineering/DevOps.
Testing & monitoring: Conduct UAT and production smoke tests, validate guardrails and monitoring, and ensure systems meet SLOs/SLAs on latency, accuracy, availability, and cost.
Enablement & adoption: Partner with the Change Management & Training Lead and cross‑functional partners to support change management and drive adoption, providing input on training and communications while ensuring consistency of in‑product guidance and messaging from the core product and marketing teams.
Issue resolution: Triage and resolve user issues, communicate updates and workarounds, and manage incident reporting trends.
Performance tracking: Track and report KPIs including adoption, relevance, business outcomes, and delivery predictability; continuously refine based on marketer and user feedback.
Collaboration: Partner with other AI pods to ensure seamless integration and continuity of insights.
Culture & accountability: Foster a pod culture of clarity, speed, collaboration, and accountability to deliver measurable business impact.
Basic Qualifications
BA / BS required.
12+ years of experience leading cross‑functional commercial projects (graduate degrees can be substituted for experience).
Understanding of AI and machine learning frameworks and libraries.
Experience in leading teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with cloud platforms and tools for deploying AI models, such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
Experience in AI development, including hands‑on experience with designing, training, and deploying AI models.
Ability to lead and inspire a team, fostering collaboration and innovation.
Strong project management skills, including the ability to plan, execute, and deliver projects on time.
Excellent communication skills for articulating complex technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
Strategic thinking to align AI initiatives with business goals and industry trends.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills to tackle complex challenges in AI development.
Creativity to innovate and find novel solutions to problems.
Understanding of ethical considerations and biases in AI, and commitment to developing responsible AI systems.
Awareness of privacy and security issues related to AI and data handling.
Understanding of marketing, brand management and commercial analytics to ensure relevant and impactful solutions.

Work location: Flexible; 2‑3 days onsite/week.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $204,700.00 to $341,100.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 22.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share‑based long‑term incentive program.
